Summer Job Spotlight ... Toronto non-profit looking for staff

If you'd like to pursue a career in the non-profit sector, then take a look at the range of summer employment opportunities with Catholic Cross-cultural Services (CSS).

As a non-profit agency that operates throughout the Toronto area, CSS provides settlement and integration services to all newly arrived immigrants and refugees, regardless of race/ethnicity, colour, age, creed, religion or political affiliation. The services are offered in more than 30 languages including Arabic, Farsi, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, and Urdu.

For 2010, CSS is looking for staff in a range of areas, including programme development, community outreach, and communications.

- Communications Officer (Summer Communication and Outreach Worker)

Assist in developing a communication plan, community notices, and new initiatives to introduce community resources to newcomers. Provide clerical support and other duties as needed. Must have interest in working with newcomers. 12 week contract.

- Program Assistant - Education (Youth Program Assistant - Arts)

Plan leadership and arts activities for newcomer youth. Promote services and participate in outreach activities. Assist in recruiting/training youth volunteers and in planning trips. Prepare reports, and perform other clerical duties as needed.

- Program Assistant - Education (Youth Program Assistant - Sports & Recreation)

Organize sports activities for newcomer youth. Recruit and train volunteers. Prepare statistics and reports. Provide clerical support and perform other duties as required. 7 week contract.

- Program Assistant - Education (Summer Settlement Program Assistant)

Assist in providing information and referrals to newcomers. Collect, organize, and update settlement resources information. Maintain files. Perform general clerical duties.

- Developmental Service Worker (Summer SEPT Community Development Worker)

Organize activities to assist school-age newcomers in understanding the Canadian school system. Recruit & train volunteers. Engage in promotion and outreach. Prepare reports and statistics.

Title: Program Assistant - Education (Summer Enrichment Project Assistant)

Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteer resources. Conduct information sessions. Provide support in organizing activities. Promote activities in the community. Prepare reports and statistics.
