Great news ... Ontario government increases summer employment funding!

The Ontario government has announced that it is increasing it's funding for youth employment by $90 million!

According to news reports, the Government of Ontario anticipates that it will be very difficult to find a summer job this year. As such, this new funding aims to offer more public sector jobs and wage subsidies to employers who hire students.

And, it couldn't have come at a better time as recent unemployment figures show that Canada's youth unemployment rate is at 14.8%, its highest level in 11 years!

This new funding will kick in immediately and it is expected than an additional 27,000 students will be able to take part in the Ontario Summer Jobs program.

For more information on the services and programmes run by the Government of Ontario, including the Ontario Summer Jobs programme, check out my previous blog posting.

Or, if you're an employer interested in hiring a student for the summer (and receiving a wage subsidy), visit the
Summer Jobs Programmes' website for further details on how to apply.
